Turnaround Thursday

In 2023, ACT helped establish the Turnaround Thursday Movement, a second chance jobs movement which helps people who are underemployed, unemployed, or recently released from incarceration to secure and maintain well-paying jobs.

Inspired by the Turnaround Tuesday movement in Baltimore, in 2021 ACT successfully advocated to secure $1.3 million in funding from Anne Arundel County to establish Turnaround Thursday and recruited Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center as the first anchor employer for the movement. ACT also provided community organizing training for participants.

Dozens of Turnaround graduates are now working for over nine participating employers, including many at Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center.
