Organizing with Descendant Communities
Descendant Community members and ACT leaders at a County Council hearing on July 15.
In 2024, ACT organized with residents of the Shot Town Road and Mulberry Hill historic African American communities to make their intentions for their land honored in the County’s Comprehensive Zoning process. As a result of our work together, the County adopted zoning that allows families in these communities to build and pass on generational wealth.
ACT continues to organize with the Descendant Communities Coalition for equitable policies preserving the legacy of these communities.
