Pedestrian Safety for Arundel Middle School

Thanks to ACT’s organizing with students from Arundel Middle School, students will soon walk to school more safely with new sidewalks.
These students have been navigating a treacherous route to school, often nearly missing being hit by cars and buses.
ACT organized 14 parents, students, and community members from Arundel Middle School to advocate for pedestrian safety at the District 4 town hall budget meeting on January 15th.
Several students and parents spoke about the need for sidewalks for Arundel Middle School students walking to school and fixes to the pick-up and drop-off infrastructure.
Five Arundel Middle School students then met with Executive Pittman on February 17th, and he committed to building sidewalks near the school using previously allocated budget funds.
Construction is expected to start this summer. ACT will be monitoring the progress of the construction.
