Victory for Immigrant Protections: End of 287(g) Agreements

ACT and the Maryland Just Power Alliance celebrated the passage of emergency legislation ending 287(g) agreements on Tuesday, February 17th! These harmful agreements send local police to do the work of ICE.

The end of these agreements is an important step towards improving people’s trust in local police by keeping them focused on public safety rather than immigration enforcement.

The Maryland Just Power Alliance supported this bill (SB245), and our members sent nearly 400 emails to their legislators asking for their support.

We congratulate CASA and our other coalition partners for their leadership on this bill.
