Katie Zinler brings 15 years of community organizing experience with tenants, public schools, faith congregations, labor unions, and community groups. As the Maryland Just Power Alliance’s Statewide Organizer, Katie supervises and trains organizers, leads statewide strategy, and builds partnerships with unions and other statewide organizations. She also serves as ACT’s Lead Organizer.
Katie has had the privilege to organize with people from all walks of life to win real improvements in our communities. In Spokane, WA she led campaigns to win $6M annually for affordable housing, $8M for child care, and $20M for affordable housing in the poorest zip code in the state. In Maryland, Katie organized with parents and teachers to create Excel Beyond the Bell Elementary, a new, free, high-quality after-school program that is now in 18 high-poverty schools. She also organized with tenants to get their property manager to clean up systemic toxic black mold in their apartments.
